    • KN95 masks are required in all classroom settings and recommended everywhere. They are available for pick up at the Stamp Information Desk.
  • All students, faculty, and staff must receive their COVID-19 booster by January 24 (First Day of Classes) or within 14 days of becoming eligible, whichever is sooner. Vaccinations are required for being on campus.
  • All students, faculty, and staff must take a COVID-19 test no more than 48 hours before coming to campus
    • Rapid antigen tests and home tests are acceptable.
  • All community members should re-sign the I AM 4Maryland Pledge, even if they have signed it in the past.
  • If you are traveling outside of the state of Maryland or the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area, check the travel guidance issued August 24.
    • Student Groups can find travel guidance here.

More information about specific requirements can be found below. If you still have questions or concerns, we ask that you contact our office at studentconduct@umd.edu, and one of our staff members will do their best to assist you.

As of January 7, 2022, all community members must re-commit to the I AM 4MARYLAND pledge for the Spring 2022 semester.

The 4Maryland campaign urges all University community members to take COVID-19 seriously. A complete collection of information regarding campus operations and community member expectations with relation to COVID-19 can be found at the 4Maryland website. The 4Maryland Pledge is below:

All Terps must be vaccinated and boosted and confirm their information via the University Health Center portal for the Spring 2022 semester. Vaccinations and boosters must be received by January 24, 2022 (First Day of Classes) or within two weeks of becoming eligible, whichever is sooner.
Undergraduate and graduate students who are not vaccinated without an exemption will not be allowed to live in the residence halls or in on-campus chapter houses nor have access to campus facilities, including academic buildings, and may face the cancellation of their spring course registration.

COVID Vaccinations and Booster shots are available to the University community through the Health Center. See information on the vaccine here.

As of August 6, 2021, in compliance with Prince George's County, the University of Maryland is requiring masks are worn indoors by all individuals, regardless of vaccination status. Masks are also strongly encouraged in crowded outdoor spaces.

With the rise of the Omicron variant, KN-95 masks will be required in classrooms for the Spring 2022 semester and are highly recommended for all.

There are few exemptions to this mandate, except when:

  • You are by yourself inside a room, office, laboratory or study area
  • In residence hall rooms/suites/apartments, only with roommates; and
  • Momentarily when eating or drinking
  • Masks are required in crowded outdoor spaces for individuals who are not fully vaccinated.
  • Individuals who are not fully vaccinated and are not wearing a mask should remain 6 feet apart from others at all times.

  • Upload all vaccination information into the UHC portal.
  • Take a COVID-19 test no more than 48 hours prior to returning to campus and confirm the results at return.umd.edu
  • Fully-vaccinated individuals must wear a mask indoors and are encouraged to wear a mask in crowded outdoor spaces.
    • KN-95 masks are required in classrooms and recommended elsewhere.

Not Vaccinated: It has not been two weeks since your booster dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

  • Not vaccinated individuals will be required to wear a face mask in all public indoor spaces and at all crowded outdoor venues.
  • If you are not wearing a mask and are not fully vaccinated, you must remain at least 6 feet apart from others at all times.
  • Non-fully vaccinated individuals near campus must comply with twice-a-week, on-campus testing requirements.
    • On-campus testing will be held at the Maryland Stadium from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. No online appointments will be required.
  • On-campus test results are automatically sent to the University Health Center. Off-campus results must be uploaded to return.umd.edu.
  • Non-fully vaccinated individuals must sign a memorandum acknowledging the health risks of being unvaccinated.
